Join the Harvard Law Society of Illinois for a wine and chocolate tasting with HLSI member and chocolate expert Valerie Beck (AB 90, JD 96). Valerie will guide us through a menu of artisan chocolate and specially selected wine pairings. She will also talk about her transition from law to chocolate.
Valerie is the founder of Chocolate Uplift and the creator of the original Chicago Chocolate Tours, which she expanded to cities across the United States. Valerie also distributes chocolate made by craft chocolate makers and acts as a consultant for cacao growers and chocolatiers. Valerie focuses on ethical chocolate and sustainability, and started the Chocolate Freedom Project to end child slave labor on cacao farms.
Valerie graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School and practiced law in the United States and Europe before entering chocolate services entrepreneurship.
